Calling all Mom's Who Can Cook Great Meals for Just Pennies!

I need your CHEAPEST Dinner Menus and recipes, please!

Why?

The Apple Farmer and I are finishing up Financial Peace University. It has been an extremely informative and inspiring experience! We begin using the Envelope System February 1. My Envelope for Groceries is going to be - well - pretty skinny!

When we bought the business we were debt free - except for the business. With the difficulties we have encountered since taking on this venture, we are no longer debt free and that really bothers us. We opted to get some professional help to get us out of this hole - Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University.

We know that there are many adventures ahead in our goal to becoming debt free again!

Our ward sponsored Financial Peace last year. It was very effective for a lot of families. Our Stake is now starting another session next month because of the great success our ward experienced. Leon and I went to the first class and were all fired up. But, we had a hard time forking out the money for the program. Leon didn't want to GO into debt to learn how to GET out of debt. And, he didn't really want to make Dave Ramsey any richer. My brother has taken the full course and lives religiously by it. He's always been ultra frugal, so we've all wondered what more he can due as a result of Dave Ramsey.

Anyway, I'll come up with our cheapest meals. It really all depends on what's on sale that week. We have the "Grocery Guru" here that pairs up coupons with the ads and claims to be able to feed a family of four for a week on less then $30 (that includes 5 days of complete meals). A lot of moms swear by his technique and he'll even take you shopping to show you how to do it. I do some of it, but I'm not into it "hard core." Here is his web site: http://www.utahcityguide.com/new/guru/index.asp

It won't be all that helpful to you since you have different grocery stores out there, but you'll get the idea.

Wow! That Grocery Guru is really cool!

Have you looked for his books in the library? They cover all of the same stuff as he does in financial peace university. I think the biggest, most helpful thing for us has been to end up on the same page together, thinking the same way as far as budget, etc. goes. We used to think we had an understanding, and then we would run into a kink and have two different ideas on how to handle it. Now we know that we have the same boundaries set and we have the same ideas to handle the 'kinks' that pop up. We feel more like a team in taking on this debt than we ever have before!

I'm excited that your stake is doing that for you! WOW!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have your cheapest meals receips!!!!

Thanks!

HI Tanya, I've been thinking about this but I am quit the amateur; every time I go to the grocery store I overspend. BUT, I have seen websites devoted to this sort of thing. My only suggestion would be make your own starter and bake your own bread. Yeast is expensive, after you buy that and flour, you could have bought a loaf, but if you grow your own... it could be worth it.
Good luck!
